I work at the intersection of statistical data-science and environmental decision-making, specialising in statistical analysis, geo-spatial modelling and data analytics for legal, environmental, governmental and commercial clients.
My professional research journey began with a PhD in Physics. Following my PhD, my research interests pivoted to ecological modelling and sustainability optimisation. In this work, I leveraged skills developed as a physicist to translate real-world problems into logical, solvable modelling frameworks.
More recently, I have worked as an environmental data science and statistical consultant for a range of commercial, governmental, and litigation clients. I have enjoyed my roles as a statistical and geospatial data-science consultant, adapting and diversifying numerical and scientific coding expertise developed during my PhD and refined through several postdoctoral positions. I also worked as Chief Science Advisor for an environmental geospatial data-science start-up company based in Finland.
The majority of my consulting work has focused on statistical data analysis for litigation clients in environmental, governmental, and commercial cases, with a special focus on environmental litigation, an area in which a small amount of leverage can produce an outsized impact. In the field of environmental law, I have built databases, produced logical frameworks, and performed statistical and geospatial data analyses for environmental litigators handling cases under state and federal law. These cases have influenced political decision-making at state and federal levels.
I have provided statistical assistance to a federal regulator investigating the financial activities and large database consumer records of two multi-billion-dollar companies. I also conducted a statistical analysis of consumer financial and housing market data for a class action on structural changes in a particular housing market.
In addition to my consultancy work, I maintain an active interest in sustainability research as a Visiting Researcher at The University of Helsinki.
